Places available for beginners,
Now taking names for anyone, beginner or those with experience, to join the class. If thinking of joining one of the classes, please contact me for more information, or to go on the waiting list. It is a question of first come first served, as places are always limited.
I recommend that you visit one of our classes, meet members, talk to them and find out their experience of the art class before making a decision to join or not.
If you have previous experience, some knowledge of doing art, then you might be able to slot into one of the classes and join members who are at your level.
I probably will have some places on the all day Saturday class, held once a month starting May 9th at Lydiate L31 4HL.

Every one can learn art!
Many people believe that to take up art you have to be born
with a natural talent...! Not true...
You can be taught the basics of art, and much more.... Yes, you can be taught drawing, art, painting.
In the same way you'd learn other things in life:
how to drive, ride a bike, bake a cake. All you need to learn art is to have nothing more than the desire to want to do it!
These varied art workshops offer: watercolour, pen & ink, creative drawing, working semi-abstract, taster life drawing sessions.
Visits to major exhibitions
Last September members visited the John Moores painting prize exhibition at the Walker art gallery, Liverpool. A unique opportunity to see 'modern art' up close, and hopefully inspire members to re-think how they produce art, or to trigger ideas of their own.
Painting out of doors
When the weather allows, the members on the weekly classes, also the Saturday class, work out of doors. Each venue allows us this opportunity, whether in Southport, Lydiate and Hightown. Artists enjoy this experience as it allows you to work directly from the subject, much better than relying on a photograph!

This class is designed for anyone wanting to draw and eventually paint. Or those who paint but feel that the drawing part lets them down. You will start with how to measure a subject and draw it in proportion, using the thumb-and-pencil method. You will also use charcoal to develop skills in applying tonal (shading) values. Also, how to use the 'grid system'. This is especially useful if drawing up a complex subject, or a portrait.
