Members held another successful art exhibition in October
members held another of their twice yearly art exhibitions of original art by local artists, at Lydiate parish hall, L31 4EQ,
The visiting public were given plenty of choice, plus refreshments with home baked cakes. Also, a lot of interest from potential new members who came along to find out more about taking up, but not sure how to go about it or unsure about their ability. It allowed them to meet our artists to find out more. Remember, all the artists are local to Sefton - You may even know them in your own community.
Our next exhibition at Lydiate parish hall: 23rd, 24th & 25th May, 2020.
(if you would like to be reminded, please contact us and we'll remind you a week before the event)
Beginners art classes enrolling end of January, early February 2020. I only enrol beginners 3 times a year. If you are thinking of taking up art, then you will need to contact me as soon as possible. Several classes are already full.
I probably will have some places on the all day Saturday class, held once a month starting February 8th at Lydiate L31 4HL.
Art classes for everyone, beginners and upwards
We are a community based art group, engaging with the local art scene.
Before deciding if you'd like to take up art, you are welcome to visit any of our art classes, meet members and talk to them, find out what their experience has been. Remember, they all started with no more than a desire to want to take up art! And that's all you need as you can learn all the basics of doing art, and more.
Life drawing class, taster session for beginners.
About twice year I run taster sessions so you can come along and try life drawing. Ideal for absolute beginners. Also for anyone who feel they need tuition to master drawing in proportion. These are held at Lydiate L31 4HL. on a Saturday. Fee £20. Times 10am till 3pm.
(Regular all day life drawing class is held first Saturday of each month. Fee £28. Times 10am till 3.30pm)
Ideal for complete beginners and anyone wanting to improve. Especially if you want to improve measuring and drawing the figure more accurately and in proportion. Also how to use tone, using charcoal.
For more information, just contact me.
We have at least two exhibitions each year. This gives members an opportunity to prepare paintings, display them and hopefully start to enjoy selling their work! Our last one was at Lydiate parish hall, May 2019
Every one can learn art!
Many people believe that to take up art you have to be born
with a natural talent...! Not true...
You can be taught the basics of art, and much more.... Yes, you can be taught drawing, art, painting.
In the same way you'd learn other things in life:
how to drive, ride a bike, bake a cake. All you need to learn art is to have nothing more than the desire to want to do it!
These varied art workshops offer: watercolour, pen & ink, creative drawing, working semi-abstract, taster life drawing sessions.
Visits to major exhibitions
Last September members visited the John Moores painting prize exhibition at the Walker art gallery, Liverpool. A unique opportunity to see 'modern art' up close, and hopefully inspire members to re-think how they produce art, or to trigger ideas of their own.
Painting out of doors
When the weather allows, the members on the weekly classes, also the Saturday class, work out of doors. Each venue allows us this opportunity, whether in Southport, Lydiate and Hightown. Artists enjoy this experience as it allows you to work directly from the subject, much better than relying on a photograph!
Weekly art classes
Art classes, especially for beginners, held at Southport, Hightown (Formby), Lydiate and Liverpool.
Now taking names for the next beginners class, commencing end of January & early February 2020.
If you have previous art experience, then you might well slot in immediately. Contact me for more details.
