Will include short 5 to 10 minute poses to improve gestural work. Gesture can be the factor in a drawing that can give the illusion of movement and life and is an essential skill to any artist.
Moderately timed poses 10 to 20 minutes. Longer poses allows us to expand on basic gestural work and add shading and some light detail. Still being relatively short poses, they encourage the artist to be bold and decisive with decision making.
Longer poses for 30-60 minutes. These poses will allow artists to make more considered pictures, giving more time for measuring and shading. The poses would also incorporate some foreshortening too.
Long poses two 60-minute poses or one two-hour pose. This will be for artists wanting to create a more detailed artwork or to do a series of studies. From a fully body piece to an above shoulder portrait, artists can take their time.
Weekly, Wednesday evenings 7.30 to 9.30. Fee £65 for 5 consecutive weeks, on going through the year. Venue: Lydiate L31 4HL

Life drawing taster session, for both beginners and those wanting to improve
Taking place at Lydiate L31 4HL, on Saturday October 17th. 10am till 3pm. Fee £20
This is a one off taster session for absolute beginners and those seeking to improve on life drawing skills. If a beginner, you don't need any drawing experience. You will be taught how to measure the figure to ensure correct proportions. The figure will never look convincing unless proportions are correct. This method, thumb & pencil, will teach you how to achieve it.
This class is an introduction to life drawing and it's hoped by the end of the day you will have learned the measuring technique to enable you to practice on your own, or using any subject, including still-life, landscapes and so on. No, you won't be drawing perfectly. This requires practice and regular tuition. Life drawing can be the key to drawing and painting as it forces you to observe the subject, to ensure you capture the correct proportions, plus much more. If you've considered doing portraits, then life drawing is the key to it.
